Where Have I Been? + Quick Life Update

Hello, my lovelies! It's been a long time since my last post, and I am back today with a little life update. A month ago or so, I decided to take a break from blogging and social media, take some time out for myself and figure out what I want to do with my blog. As much as I've missed being part of the online world, I think that taking a long break was one of the best blog-related decisions I've ever made.

Blogging is an amazing thing, but just like with anything else in life, it can get a little tiring if you do it too much. A couple of months ago, I started to really run out of creative energy and motivation to write posts. My content became less and less regular, and for a while I felt like my heart just wasn't really in it. This is why I decided to go on a full blogging and social media detox, during which I didn't even as much as look at my Twitter account! It felt odd at first, but also quite liberating. Being away from my blog and social media has really helped me to clear my head, recharge my creative batteries and re-adjust my blogging goals.

I've come to the conclusion that I would push myself way too hard when it came to reaching a certain standard with my content, which in turn took away from the enjoyment I got out of blogging. I looked back at some of my older 2015 posts, and I would laugh at the sloppy writing and toaster-quality photos. But at the same time, I realized that back then, I was getting a lot more joy out of writing posts than I have done recently. I used to write purely for fun, rather than constantly trying to one-up my own work. Perhaps I am alone in this, but I think that if you have been blogging for a while, you might be able to relate to what I'm describing.

I think that as bloggers, we try so hard to always produce the best content and achieve our blogging goals, that sometimes we forget to actually enjoy ourselves in the meantime. I definitely let blogging become too much of a chore, and I think that going forward I'd like to make my posts a little more relaxed, and focus only on the things that I truly enjoy writing about. Oh, I have also upgraded my blog template! Whilst I liked the old layout, I think that this one is a lot clearer and it signifies starting anew in the blogging world. Hope you stick around! Thank you for all your love, patience and support. x
