Hello there, my loves! It's been a little while since my last unboxing and first impressions posts, mainly because I haven't actually bought a lot of perfumes this year! There haven't been too many exciting fragrance launches lately, although I have seen quite a few of my blogger friends rave about the new scent by Britney Spears, 'Private Show' (£15 for 30ml, allbeauty.com). I'm not typically a huge Britney fan, but I do enjoy her perfumes - they're always so girly, likable and sweet. My lovely boyfriend got me a bottle of this as a surprise gift, and today, I will be sharing with you my honest thoughts on this fragrance. Hope you enjoy!
Private Show is actually the 20th perfume made by Britney, supposedly inspired by one of her biggest passions - dancing. The diamond-shaped bottle comes hidden in a simple, pink box with a lovely photo of Britney at the back. To be completely honest, I'm not too keen on the bottle design. I think that it looks a little cheap, and the image of luxury that it tries to convey doesn't really work. Britney has created some gorgeous bottles before (the entire Fantasy line is absolutely stunning!), but this one has left me slightly disappointed!
The first thing I noticed about this scent was how similar it is to Yves Saint Laurent's Black Opium, which some of you might be familiar with. Immediately after spraying, I could smell a lot of uplifting, fresh fruits like oranges and nectarines. The frutiness faded away quite quickly, and the fragrance became sweeter and softer, with delicious notes of coffee, whipped cream and dulce de leche (basically, creamy caramel sauce - yummy!). Coffee is definietly an interesting note here, and one that you don't see (or smell!) very often (except in Black Opium, which is what makes the two quite similar). However, it doesn't smell dark or bitter, like typical coffee - instead, it's very creamy and warm. I've seen someone compare Private Show to the smell of Starbucks frappuccino, and honestly, I think that comparison is pretty spot on!
I honestly couldn't stop smelling myself all day after spraying this perfume - it's utterly delicious! It definietly smells more high-end and expensive than it is (not quite top shelf, but not quite like a standard celebrity fragrance, either), which is a huge plus. There are a lot of similarities between this and Yves Saint Laurent's Black Opium, although Private Show is sweeter, creamier and more 'edible-smelling'. The lasting power is about eight to ten hours, which is pretty good for such an affordable perfume. I think that this fragrance would be a lovely choice for colder months, as it's incredibly warm and comforting. I'm pleased to give it an honest 8/10!
