NYX Strobe of Genius Illuminating Palette Review + Swatches!

Hello there, my lovelies! Today, I am very excited to talk to you about this gorgeous Strobe of Genius Illuminating Palette by NYX (£15, Boots). If you've been visiting my blog for a while, you might know that I tend to avoid highlighters because of my oily skin. I could never get into the whole strobing trend - any highlight on my face usually blends with the natural shine of my skin, which doesn't look good at all! I thought that I had completely given up on highlighters, that is, until I spotted this little NYX palette in my local Boots. The lovely selection of shades caught my eye right away, and I decided to give highlighters another chance. Today, I'm excited to share with you my honest thoughts on this palette. Hope you enjoy!

The Strobe of Genius Illuminating Palette comes in a plastic packaging with a clear top - it's simple, but sturdy; and compact enough to take with you when travelling. There is no mirror or brushes included, which I didn't personally mind as I prefer to use my own brushes, anyway. The palette contains seven highlighting powders total - four smaller ones at the top, and three large ones at the bottom. I was immediately impressed with the variety of shades included - they all look so gorgeous in the packaging!

The main thing I love about this palette is the diversity of shades - there really is something for everyone here, and the colours should suit most skintones. The powders are fun to play around with and work well when combined together, which is perfect especially if you're new to the whole highlighting trend (like myself!). These powders are soft, buttery and very easy to apply. They look natural and delicate on the skin, although it's easy to build them up if you want that extra glow. As you can see in the swatches above, the pigmentation is quite light, and some of the shades look fairly similar when applied. I think that this makes them much 'safer' and easier to use, although it may not be the best option if you're looking for something more dramatic. The lasting power is wonderful - the powders look just as bright and glowing at the end of the day, as they do when you first apply them.

Shades included are:
❤ True gold with gold pearl
❤ Cool toned light pink shimmer
❤ Lavender with shimmer
❤ Golden pink with shimmer
❤ Light gold with peachy undertone with shimmer
❤ Bronze with gold pearl
❤ True champagne with shimmer

Overall, I think that Strobe of Genius is a wonderful choice if you're new to the whole strobing trend, and want an all-in-one palette that will cover all of your highlighting needs at a reasonable price (£15 at Boots). The powders are versatile, long-lasting and easy to use, although the pigmentation is a little light and some of the shades look quite similar when applied. Personally, I have been enjoying using this palette on a daily basis, and I don't see myself purchasing any more highlighters anytime soon - this one covers all of my needs, which is why I'm giving it an honest 8/10!
