What's In My Travel Makeup Bag?

Hello, my loves. Today, I wanted to share with you some of my favourite travel makeup picks. I love travelling more than anything else in the world, but it's always a challenge to fit everything you might need into one small bag (I'd happily take my entire makeup collection if I could!). When it comes to travelling, I only ever rely on my favourite, tried and tested products that I know won't disappoint. I am actually slowly preparing to travel now, as me and my better-half will soon be spending two weeks in the Canary Islands for our 9 years (!) anniversary. Hope you enjoy today's picks!

When it comes to foundation, I tend to skip it entirely when on holiday and just let my skin relax. I typically go with my favourite, affordable BB Cream by Garnier (£6.65, Superdrug). It's so lightweight, easy to apply and offers surprisingly good coverage (better than some foundations I've used!). It doesn't last as long as proper foundation, but if you're travelling and just want to keep it fresh and simple, it's very useful. On a rare occasion that I do feel like doing a full foundation routine, I go with my all-time favourite, holy grail Power Fabric foundation by Armani (£42, Debenhams). I've discovered this a few months back, and it is honestly the best foundation I've ever used - it gives you a truly airbrushed, flawless finish and offers great staying power (full review + demo coming soon!). Pair it with the NYX HD Studio primer (£13, Boots), and you have a great foundation base that will last you all day when out and about.

When it comes to eyes, waterproof makeup is a must. My eyes water a lot so I end up using waterproof makeup on the daily, anyway; and especially when travelling. I have yet to find a 100% waterproof eyeliner, but this Rimmel Exaggerate liquid eyeliner (£5.49, Boots) is pretty close, and very affordable, too. As for mascaras, I've been loving the Baby Roll waterproof mascara by L'Oreal (£7.99, Superdrug), and take it with me wherever I go. I used to spend £40 every few months on my favourite Le Volume by Chanel, but not since I discovered this one. It's an amazing dupe - it gives fantastic volume and definition, and is truly waterproof - I wore it as well as the Rimmel eyeliner everyday in Portugal when swimming in the ocean, and my eye makeup stayed on all day without any issues!

As much as I love all of my eyeshadow palettes, it's not realistic to take all of them with me when travelling (I wish!). The one I usually stick with is the Autobalm face palette by TheBalm (£16.49, Superdrug). This little palette is compact, portable and includes all of your daily makeup essentials - blush, highlighter and two eyeshadows (one of which can also be used for your eyebrows). The shades included are very neutral and easy to work with, and, as you can see from the photo above, I am particularly fond of the highlighter (I hit the pan on it a little while ago!). I wrote a full review of Autobalm here, and it is definitely an long standing favourite that's perfect for travelling.

When it comes to lips, I always stick with my trusted, go-to lipsticks. YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in 44 Nude Lavalliere (£26, Debenhams) is my all-time favourite lip shade, and I honestly couldn't recommend it enough. It is the perfect nude colour - warm, soft, pale; it truly gives you that 'your lips but MUCH better' kind of look. The formula is comfortable and very hydrating; it looks quite glossy at first, but that wears off after a little while, leaving your lips with just a subtle sheen (demo here). I've also been loving the Lip Lustre gloss by Charlotte Tilbury in Seduction (£16.50, House of Fraser). It's much more comfortable and long-lasting than your standard lip gloss, plus the shade is gorgeous, versatile, and perfect for topping up your makeup when on the go.

Last, but definitely not least; I think that these Little Round Pot blushers by Bourjois (£6.49, Boots) are perfect for travelling. They're compact, portable and come with a little brush that's very useful for topping up your makeup when on the go.  They are easy to apply and have a very distinct scent to them, which makes me think of roses and heavy powder. These blushes come in both matte and shimmery finishes, and there are about 18 shades to choose from - the ones I have are Rose Frisson (bottom left), Rose Ambre (top) and Santal (bottom right).

What's in your travel makeup bag?

As a side note, I wanted to thank you for all the kind, uplifting comments on my last post. It truly means the world. x As it stands, I am still in the dark and awaiting my next scan, but I am trying my best to stay positive; and blogging is a great and much-needed distraction.
