5 types of posts that get the most views!

Hey, jelly beans! I hope you're all having a beautiful week so far. Today, I'm going to share with you a few post ideas that, in my experience, attract the most readers. As a disclaimer, I don't believe in posting things solely to get traffic - at the end of the day, you should always blog about the topics that you're truly passionate about (whether they are popular, or not). Having said that, it can be difficult to attract new readers and get people to visit your blog, especially if you're just starting out. It could be useful to know what kind of content is likely to be popular, which is what inspired my idea for this post. I hope you find these helpful!

BEAUTY HAULS
I actually never quite understood the popularity of hauls. I do enjoy both reading and writing them, but they always seem to get a lot more views than I'd expect. The NYX haul was my most read post in May, whereas the drugstore mini haul received more views than any other article I published in June. I think it's good to always combine your hauls with unboxing and first impressions, just to make them a little more interesting. You don't need to review each product in depth, but it's good to share some initial thoughts and include swatches, whenever you can. You could also try and attach certain themes to your hauls - for instance, only haul a specific brand, type of makeup (for example, a nail polish haul), or introduce seasonal themes (like an autumn beauty haul).

PERSONAL AND LIFESTYLE POSTS
Personal and lifestyle posts are always popular, but for a different reason. They might not give you many hits from search engines, but I find that people are always very interested in reading them. Personal posts can really help to get to know the person behind the blog, which I think is very important. Do not let yourself become another faceless blogger - don't be afraid to let your personality shine through your posts, and share your experiences (as much as you're comfortable with, of course). I recently published a post where I opened up my eating disorder - it wasn't easy, but the support I received was overwhelming and I'm glad that I decided to share my story. Of course, it doesn't all need to be serious. Sometimes it's good to just break away from your usually beauty or fashion content, and talk about something random and light-hearted. Lifestyle tags such as 'Get to know me' or '50 facts about me' are always a fun idea!

REVIEWS OF RECENT LAUNCHES
Thorough reviews of anticipated beauty launches are a sure way to feed a lot of traffic to your blog. Seven out of ten of my most viewed posts are makeup reviews. My most popular post of all time - the NYX Lip Lingerie review, has three times as many views as the second most popular article. I published it shortly after NYX launched their range in the UK, which turned out to be a perfect timing. Keep an eye out online and in your local stores for any upcoming makeup launches, and try to be one of the first bloggers to review them. LISTS AND ROUND-UPS
These are super fun and easy to write, and can be very useful if you have a lot of products that you want to talk about. For example, if you have recently written a lot of lipstick reviews, combine them all in a 'lipstick round-up' where you briefly go through each one and link back to your full review (which, in turn, feeds more traffic to your older posts). You can also do a round-up of your favourite eyeshadows, foundations, perfumes for a given season; or makeup products that you regret buying. The possibilities are endless, and people seem to enjoy lists and round-ups as they are much easier to read than just plain posts with no structure.

TAGS
Tags are a fun way of getting involved in the blogging community, and a lot of people seem to really enjoy reading them (myself included!). The '50 facts about me' tag is on my list of top ten most viewed posts of all time, and I think that every blogger should do it - it's a great way of letting the readers get to know you, especially if you're just starting out. You may also enjoy doing a few nomination-type tags, such as 'The Liebster Award' and 'The versatile blogger award'!

I really hope that you've found these helpful! As a side note, I wanted to let you all know that I'm finally starting my own YouTube channel! I've ordered a new camera, and will be filming my first few videos this and next week. I'm both excited and very nervous! If you have any tips, words of wisdom or things to be aware of, please let me know! :) x
