NYX Lip Lingerie lipstick review + swatches! Lace Detail + Bedtime Flirt

Hey, beauties! Today, I'm very excited to share with you my thoughts on the new Lip Lingerie collection by NYX. I've always been more of a lip gloss gal, but when I saw these lippies, I simply couldn't resist trying them! The Lip Lingerie liquid lipsticks promise to give you a flawless, matte finish that lasts all day. They come in twelve beautiful, nude shades, which range from cinnamon pinks to chocolate browns (also including one lovely, sultry red). I will be swatching two of those shades - Lace Detail and Bedtime Flirt. Hope you enjoy!

The packaging is simple and transparent, and I like that you can see the colour of the liquid inside. The applicator is a standard, 'doe foot' shaped brush - it's quite long and thin, which allows for a very precise application. When applied, the lipstick feels very smooth and creamy at first, but it quickly dries up giving you a soft, matte finish.

The formula is wonderfully pigmented and one layer is enough to give you full coverage. Whilst I love how these lipsticks look on my lips, I don't really like how they feel (especially after a few hours of wear). The formula is very drying, and honestly I couldn't help but constantly lick my lips because of how uncomfortable it felt. My lips are already very dry, and these lipsticks did them no favours. Any cracks and dryness become accentuated, and that's despite exfoliating and applying lip balm first. It's a real shame because otherwise, I think that these lipsticks look beautiful - I even received a few compliments throughout the day when wearing one. On top of that, the staying power is amazing - the formula doesn't smudge and I didn't have to top it up at all, despite eating and drinking.

LACE DETAIL: This is one of the lightest shades in the range. It's a lovely, warm, delicate pink; perfect for everyday wear.
BEDTIME FLIRT: This one is a little darker, 'your lips but better' kind of shade.
Both shades are absolutely gorgeous and very wearable, but I think I prefer Bedtime Flirt because of how warm and feminine it looks. Below, you can see me wearing it with a casual smoky eye look:

PROS:
+ Wide range of wearable, nude shades
+ Great pigmentation
+ Flawless, matte finish
+ Fantastic staying power (up to ten hours)
+ Affordable price (£6.50, Boots)

CONS:
- Very drying formula

Overall, I'm glad that I finally decided to embrace the matte lip trend, and try out these lippies. The shades, the staying power, the quality are all absolutely wonderful, especially considering the low price. If you enjoy nude, matte lipsticks, and want that iconic Kylie Jenner lip, the Lip Lingerie range will be perfect for you. However, if your lips dry out easily (like mine), you may want to avoid these as they can accentuate any cracks and dryness. I definitely need my lipsticks to be a little more hydrating, and as much as I'd like to, I just can't see myself wearing these very often. They look gorgeous, but they are simply too drying, which is why I give the Lip Lingerie range an honest 6/10

Have you tried the Lip Lingerie lipsticks by NYX? What is your favourite matte lipstick? x
